Design highlights

A deliberately narrow palette — dark stone, dark timber, matte black metal — and all of the light indirect. The gallery corridor runs the depth of the house and doubles as hanging space; the kitchen reads as one carved mass rather than a run of cabinets.

The plan plays dark against light. The black kitchen and the dark gallery open into a bright white living room that steps down from them and is glazed on two sides to the garden. Details are set into the house itself rather than placed in it: an ammonite in the dark floor, a sculpted figure on the white stair wall.
